Birthday Bundle

A work colleague of mine has just celebrated her 21st Birthday and I wanted to do something a bit special for her and ended up with a complete matching set! (I might have got just a 'bit' carried away) ...

I designed the candle first, with inspiration from 'We Stamp for Lara' (see previous post) and totally fell in love with the colour scheme so felt inspired to keep going.

Of course any gift needs a card so I made one to match.

One of the presents I am giving her is her very own batch of my infamous caramel slice (all to herself!) so naturally there needed to be a tag to go with that.

And finally (although not shown here) is a *secret* recipe card that I made with the 'from the kitchen of' stamp set which goes with a new pan so she can make this herself. Pretty lucky lady to be getting my special recipe (wink).

I loved creating these gifts and hope she loves it as much as I do.

This tag is so appropriate 'Just for you ... so you don't have to share'!!

I love this candle ... I want one now!! haha

Candle Delight

I am officially addicted to stamping on candles. I saw a tutorial for this technique on 'We Stamp for Lara' and have had a ball creating a variety of designs. Want to know how to makes these? Click here to be directed to Madonna Dunn's blog.

I made the Season's Greetings candle first then moved on to the Xmas Kangaroo once I realised how easy it was!

Very exciting week this week, as I took delivery of my preorder from the Summer Mini Catalogue which is effective from 1st December. I am having great fun playing with my new products and will post a couple of sneak peeks on these soon, so watch this space :-)

Surfs Up ... Santa!

I have had my eye on this set for quiet some time now, so appropriate for the Southern Hemisphere where boardshorts replace winter woolies, and surf replaces the snow. I thoroughly loved colouring this in using my pastels and watercolour brush and doesn't he looked like one chilled out Santa!

Stamps: Happy Christmas, Mate

Mojo Monday 163

I took delivery a few days ago of some new stamps and products, in particular I finally got a Big Shot! I was so excited I had to get stuck in and the Mojo Monday challenge seemed the perfect thing. So one of my creations from today is this gorgeous card using watercolour techniques and the beautiful Polkadot embossing. Love it!!

(I apologise for the bad lighting, one of the bulbs in my study has blown and I just couldn't get this shot right)
Isn't that little Koala just gorgeous. I had a couple of attempts at colouring him in and finally decided on using the lids of the stamp pads and my watercolour brush and am thrilled with the result. Definitely my preferred method.

Stamps: Happy Christmas, Mate
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Cumble Cake, Early Espresso, DSP Jolly Holiday
Inks: Early Espresso
Ribbon: Sleigh Bells Ribbon (promotion)
Other: Polkadot Embossing

Where for art thou Mojo??

Yep, that's right I lost my mojo for a while there (gasp!). But it is OK, I found it again. I think hubby accidentally packed it when he went away for four weeks with work. Thank goodness he bought it back with him!

Anyway, to follow are a few projects I completed today but the first is a card I made for a work colleague who hurt her back and has been off work for a while now. I wanted to let her know that we miss her around work and as the card says, gets well soon.

I love this stamp set and find it so versatile. It sure is a lot of fun to colour in too and it can be adapted to whatever colour scheme you use.

Stamps: Loads of Bots
Cardstock: Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Crumble Cake
Inks: Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede
Ribbon: Soft Suede Polkadot

Oh Christmas Tree ...

Can you believe there are less than 14 weeks until Christmas? Scary stuff! On the upside I love making Christmas cards and I thought I had better get started. I will aim to show a new card or gift every week so be sure to watch this space for the next addition.

This week we have a collection of old and new, with some old stamps and lots of new colours.

The tree is from the Loads of Love set. I have stamped this on its own for a more
traditional look but couldn't resist some bling on top to add some sparkle.

The star has been stamped in Cherry Cobler then had a
heavy dose of Crystal Effects added to give it some shine.
Cardstock: Crumble Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip, Watercolour Paper
Inks: Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede
Stamps: Loads of Love, Playful Pieces (hostess reward), Best Yet (retired)

Happy Birthday Human

This is the card I designed for my brother-in-law ... Happy Birthday Kimbo for today! It makes such a change for me to use something other than flowers and I think the Little Bots set adds just the right amount of masculinity. The most amazing part in all of this is the fact that I actually sent the card on time ... I am notorious for sending them too late to get to the recipient on time (it's a good thing they are all handmade with love, get's me a few extra brownie points LOL).

Cardstock: Soft Suede, Certainly Celery, Real Red, Watercolour paper
Ink: Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Stazon Ink (black)
Stamps: Little Bots
Ribbon: Real Red

Simplicity ... cased

I saw this on a fellow bloggers site (Stampzone) and felt inspired to recreate her awesome design. I didn't case it exactly, but pretty close and I think I have managed to duplicate the simplicity of it.

Ink: Marina Mist, Crumble Cake, Cajun Craze
Cardstock: Whisper White, Crumble Cake
Stamps: Cute by the Inch (hostess), Sincere Salutations

Just Add Ink 36

Yes, another challenge. This time a really simple design that was very quick to throw together. This was made especially easy by the gorgeous Marina Mist colour that I adore. I do love anything that reminds me of the sea so the name alone grabs me LOL.

Want to join in on this challenge? Click on the Just Add Ink badge to the right of this page to go through to their blog.

TESC 129

I love a challenge and I love using new products!! My most recent delivery of Stampin' Up! products included the exclusive Hostess Reward stamp set 'Birthday Party' as well the 'In Colours' inks and cardstock. So I have used these with my latest challenge and I am pretty chuffed with the result.

I distressed the edges of the circle before daubing with ink and paper piercing

MMM ... Marathon Masterpiece Mojo 157

Rome wasn't built in a day, and nor was this masterpiece! I have been having a blast trying some new techniques this week and chalking has been my focus over the last few days. I have done chalking before but haven't been entirely thrilled with the results. So what do I do when confronted with a less that ideal result? Practice, practice, practice!! And the result is a layout and card based on the latest Mojo Moday design. Normally I do a card then move onto a layout, but decided to do it differently this time. I like the card, but I LOVE the layout.

I have used Versamark to stamp the images, then daubed on the chalk to colour it up. I love this technique and had great fun doing the lower portion of the card and layout.

Cardstock: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede, Brocade Blue, Rose Royal
Ribbon: Soft Suede Polkadot
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Very Vintage Jump Wheel, Best Yet, For Everything
Other: Daubers, Chalk, Mat Pack, Eyelet Border punch, Versamark

Mojo 155

I have had another attempt at a Mojo Monday challenge and have made a point of using some of my new products from the new IBC. These are not colours or papers I would normally put together but the combination is growing on me.

Instead of using the original cardstock punch out for the branch, I have used it as a template and daubed the ink on instead for a more subtle effect.

Ink: Real Red, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Real Read, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Papers: Greenhouse Gala DSP

Old and New

I know, I am committing the cardinal sin by using retired products, so I figured I would pair it with something new. Happy Father's Day

I want to wish my Dad a very Happy Father's Day, and what better way to show him that I care than to make him a handmade card. The following cards are 3 designs that I came up with and I used 2 of them at a recent workshop. Inks: Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Glorious Green, Old Olive (inkpad & jumbo cartridge)

Army enough for ya?

My son celebrated his 9th Birthday recently (where has my baby gone?????) and is right into all things army. I have opted for lots of straight edges and army colours with a focus on 'dirtying up' all the edges. I am pretty chuffed with the outcome and more importantly Jack loved the card!

Happy Heart

I wanted to try a few different techniques with this card. Mostly the ruffled ribbon effect and also the two step stampin' with my All Scallops stamps and Scallop Punch.

I have used Stampin' Write's for a two-tone effect on the flower and have added crystal effects for dimension. I worked out that Sticky Strip works better than Snail Adhesive and the only thing I would change is making my ruffled ribbon a bit straighter!

Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Whisper White; Old Olive

Rip it up

Another thank you card for our family members in the UK. Another work in progress this one. I have used my Stampin' Pastels to colour the flower and love the result. The colour is so soft and subtle.

I have torn my Soft Suede cardstock and filled the gap behind with some So Safron Ribbon for something different. I am still not sure if I like the overal look but I had fun using some different techniques.

Cardstock: Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Stamps: Scribble This, Much Appreciated
Inks: Soft Suede, Whisper White
